Japanese Grant Assistance for

Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP) 2011

What is GGP?

A financial assistance scheme for developing projects designed to meet the diverse needs of developing countries in the field of Basic Human Needs and Human Security. This scheme supports projects proposed by such bodies as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local government authorities, educational institute, and medical institute (Federal government cannot be a recipient).
The GGP has acquired an excellent reputation for providing flexible and timely support to development projects at the grass-roots level.
Project Areas : primary health care, primary education, poverty relief, public welfare, and environment.


Outcome
Since 1989 until March 2011, GGP was granted to 120 projects in Malaysia with a total grant amount of around RM 13.5 million.
In FY2009, GGP was granted in 137 developing countries with funding worth around
RM 40 million (11.8 billion yen).
