In an effort to share Japanese pop culture and promote
understanding of Japan, the International MANGA Award was established
in 2007 to honour non-Japanese cartoonists for their contribution to
the promotion of MANGA culture outside Japan. Response
to this Award has been overwhelming, with 245 works submitted from 38
countries/regions for the 6th International MANGA Award in 2013 where
Thai cartoonist, Mr. Kosin Jeenseekong clinched the “Gold Award” for
his masterpiece “Listening to the Bell”.
Malaysian cartoonists

cartoonist, Mr. Benny Wong Thong Hou received the “Shorei” Award for
his work “Le. Gardenie” in the 1st International MANGA Award.
