Ambassador and Mrs. Miyagawa Participated in Japanese Cultural Night (Bon Odori) 2017

     On Saturday, the 9th of December, Ambassador and Mrs. Miyagawa, visiting Kota Kinabalu, attended Japanese Cultural Night (Bon Odori) in University  Sabah Malaysia co-hosted by the Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu and the Japanese Cultural Club of the university as part of the 60th Anniversary events of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Malaysia. Approximately 1,000 participants from all over Kota Kinabalu, including university students and local residents gathered at the event.

      The Japanese Cultural Night counted 9 times already. In this year’s event, besides Bon dance with all the participants, there were also dances performed by the Japanese School students as well as demonstrations by Japanese martial arts organizations (Aikido and Shourinji Kenpo). Many stalls and booths were set up and a tea ceremony demonstration was performed by the Japan Club volunteers.

      The Consular Office also had a booth at the event introducing traditional Japanese toys and origami.
