Japanese Budo Delegation in Malaysia

     A Japanese Budo delegation led by the Honourable Mr. Masahiko Komura, President of Nippon Budokan and Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party, visited Malaysia from 8 to 15 November. The delegation consisted of 75 members. As part of the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Malaysia, Japanese Budo Demonstration was held at the Panasonic Sports Complex on 12 November. Followed by opening speeches by Mr. Komura, Ambassador Miyagawa and YB Dato’Lokman Hakim bin Ali, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, various demonstrations by nine modern budo arts including judo and karate-do as well as three “kobudo”(old-style budo) arts were held. About 2,500 audience enjoyed breathtaking demonstrations and felt and experience the spirit of budo.

     On 9 November, “Budo Seminar and Demonstration” at the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) during “MJIIT Japan Day 2017”was held, and Ambassador Miyagawa hosted a welcome reception for the Budo delegation on the same evening. They also demonstrated for children and their parents in the total number of about 1,000 at the Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur on 10 November.
