15 December 2014
On 13th December, hosted by the
Malaysia - Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), MJIIT
Japan Day was held on their campus. Ambassador Miyagawa attended the
event.
MJIIT Japan Day is an excellent occasion for students to
get to understand Japanese culture through various activities such as
Awa-Odori (one of the most popular traditional dance of Japan),
Ken-dama (Japanese bilboquet), Yukata (casual version of Kimono), and
calligraphy. As one of the many events held on campus, a Maki-sushi
demonstration was given by the personal chef of the Japanese Ambassador
to Malaysia, Ms. Kitamura. This event was also good source to send
information about Japanese culture to Malaysia, as many young students
of matriculation schools and colleges came to the event from broad area
of Malaysia.
Ambassador Miyagawa mentioned in his speech for
the closing ceremony, with extending his expectations on students on
the early batch of MJIIT, that he convinced MJIIT will become a world
leader in this field with highly sophisticated technology, of which he
glimpsed a corner from his own test drive in MJIIT’s electric car.
