On 22nd August, a piano concert by Ms. Hiroko Sato, a Japanese pianist, was held at the Ambassador’s residence. The concert was held as part of celebrating the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. Ms Hiroko Sato graduated from University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna receiving the Best Student Award. Before that, she received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in Toho Gakuen School of Music. Ms Hiroko Sato has won various competitions and is currently a lecturer at Ueno Gakuen School of Music, she has been actively performing in concerts around the world. This time, in an attempt to promote cultural exchange between Malaysia and Japan through piano, Ms. Hiroko Sato took the opportunity to perform in a piano concert held at the Ambassador’s residence, which also gave her the opportunity to visit Malaysia. The pieces she played this time were Weber’s Invitation to Dance Op.65, Chopin’s Grande Valse Brillante Op.18 and others, 8 pieces altogether including the encore. The audience was totally captivated and fascinated by her advanced technique, and the beautiful tone she produced. |
