"KOMA: MANGA PANEL" at the Comic Art Festival


On 7th and 8th June, the Comic Art Festival will be held at the Annexe Gallery in Central Market in Kuala Lumpur.

There will be a lecture and demonstration called "KOMA: MANGA PANEL" co-organized by the Asia Manga Association and the Embassy of Japan at the festival. Japanese comic artists, Yoshimi Kurata, Keitaro Arima and Koko Fukuda from Japan will be the guest speakers for the lecture and demonstration.

Yoshimi Kurata
A holder of the prestigious Shogakukan award, Kurata is the most well known for his manga Aji Ichi Monme. Currently he is a professor at Kyoto University of Art & Design and Otemae University. He is currently focused on international cultural collaborations and manga education.

Keitaro Arima
Arima's most well known work Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase was released in 1999 and started the trend of moe art with the cat ear motif. He currently lectures manga at the Osaka University of Arts while still continuing magazine serializations and doujins.

Koko Fukuda
Fukuda is a Kurata's main assistant and is in charge of drawing backgrounds. She has served as an assistant for many manga artists in the past and has also worked with Arima as his assistant.
