The KABUKI’S KIMONO Show

A Japanese Cultural Event ‘the “KABUKI’S KIMONO” Show’ will be held at the ISETAN KL store in KLCC from 27th October to 3rd November 2010.

Kabuki, literally means Music ‘歌 (ka), ‘ Dance 舞 (bu) ’ and Play ’伎 (ki)’ and is a form of Japanese traditional performing arts with about 400 years of history behind it. It is listed by UNESCO in 2009 as an intangible Cultural Heritage and is also an important intangible cultural asset of Japan. Kabuki has many fascinating aspects but what fascinates the audience most has been the actor’s flashy kimono and his make-up.

At this upcoming event, there will be on display 22 flashy kimonos worn by the KABUKI actors during the early days of “the Showa Era (from 1926 to 1989)”. These exquisite kimonos have been preserved by the Mitsukoshi Departmental Store which was the costumer for the KABUKI stage from 1907 to 1952. This special event is brought to you by ISETAN KL as part of its 20th anniversary celebration and it will be the first time so many Kabuki’s kimonos are on showcase in Malaysia.

Don’t miss this precious opportunity!
