On 21 November, hosted by the Malaysia - Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), MJIIT Japan Day was held on their campus. At the opening ceremony, in the speech addressed by the Malaysian Deputy Education Minister P. The speech was followed by a dancing performance of Yosakoi Soran by students, which added a lively atmosphere to the ceremony. As one of the many events held on campus, a Makizushi demonstration was given by the personal chef of the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Mr. Sakai. Many participants enjoyed actually making rolled sushi, and having a taste of them. The participants were mentioning that through making Makizushi, their interest in Japanese culture further deepened and would like to try making them at home too. In the Gala Dinner held on the following day, Ambassador Nakamura mentioned that MJIIT is a symbol of Japan - Malaysia cooperation and a hub for human capital development in the engineering sector, which he is confident, will contribute towards Malaysia’s development into a high income nation by the year 2020 in line with “Vision 2020”. Ambassador Nakamura also hopes that the Japanese Government, Japanese University Consortium and Japanese companies will continue to join forces and provide the necessary support to MJIIT. |
