On June 7 and 8, Comic Art Festival was held at the Annexe Gallery in Central Market in Kuala Lumpur. Organized by the SAYS YOUTH SOCIETY, the festival was held to provide a stage, where Malaysian manga artists can present their work, as well as to enhance network building among manga artists.

A lecture and demonstration called "KOMA: MANGA PANEL", co-organized by the Asia Manga Association and the Embassy of Japan, was held at the festival. Three Japanese comic artists, Yoshimi Kurata, Keitaro Arima and Koko Fukuda from Japan were invited as guest speakers for the demonstration followed by a workshop. The venue was packed with manga fans, who listened with much enthusiasm to the lecture by the three popular Japanese comic artists at the forefront of their industry.
