     The Nippon Maru, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (the 44th SSEAYP in 2017), called at Port Klang from 30 November to 3 December. A welcome ceremony was held at the port on 30 November following a welcome dinner hosted by Minister of Youth and Sports on the same evening, and a send-off ceremony was held on 3 December. Minister Hiroyuki Orikasa, Deputy Chief of Mission, attended the welcome dinner hosted by Honourable Minister Khairy and delivered his speech. “20 kit of Hope” project followed by a reunion dinner was organised by SSEAYP International Malaysia (The Alumni Association of the Ship of Southeast Asian Youth Program of Malaysia) on 2 December, and the ship was open to the public on 3 December. Ms Etsuko Kurihara attended the welcome ceremony as well as the alumni event and Mr Simon Kubota attended the send-off ceremony on behalf of the Japanese Embassy.

     “SSEAYP” is an international youth programme carried by Cabinet Office, the Government of Japan, and 330 youth from Japan and ten ASEAN countries participate in the 44th SSEAYP. They spend time together on board from 2 November to 12 December with various activities including national presentations and discussions.
