On 10th December, a young Japanese
pianist, Ms. Yu Kosuge was invited to perform in a piano concert at the
Ambassador’s residence.
Ms. Yu Kosuge is currently perhaps the most promising young pianist who
is in the spotlight in Europe, getting enthusiastic support from
European audiences. So far, she has collaborated with major orchestras
overseas, including Japan, working with well-known conductors such as
Seiji Ozawa. She has also been invited to quite a number of
international music festivals and is active both inside and outside
Japan.
This time, in an attempt to promote cultural exchange between Malaysia
and Japan through piano, Ms. Yu Kosuge accepted the opportunity to
perform in a piano concert held at the Ambassador’s residence, which
also gave her the opportunity to visit Malaysia. The pieces she played
were Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 31 No. 2, also known as "The Tempest", and
Schumann’s Carnaval Op. 9. The audience was totally captivated and
fascinated by her advanced technique, the beautiful tone she produced
and her youthful sensibility.
