On 24
March, students of SMK Putrajaya Presint 8 (1) had a taste of Japanese
culture on the Japanese Cultural Day jointly organized by Embassy of
Japan, myJICA and the school.
A sizeable crowd of 900 eager
students gathered at the school hall and the WADAIKO (Japanese
traditional Drum) performance gave the event a grand opening with great
gusto. Students had the opportunity to experience Japanese culture
first-hand, through viewing cooking demonstrations of “Miso Soup”,
“Tempura” etc and Japanese food sampling, and also through viewing
Japanese films. Male students crowded around the “Origami”
demonstration excitedly, putting their hands and fingers to work while
female students were given a hands-on experience of “Ikebana” (Japanese
flower arrangement) where they expressed their creativity.
A big thanks to all who have worked tirelessly for the event!
