Presentation of Tokyo Gas’ Contribution to Japanese Language Education and “Akie Library” Handover Ceremony to Malay College Kuala Kangsar
9 August 2016

In the gracious presence of Their Royal Highnesses Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfullah, and Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Zara Salim, a Ceremony was hosted by Ambassador Miyagawa at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence on 9th August 2016.

Mrs Akie Abe, wife of Prime Minister, decided to donate books on Japanese language and culture--“Akie Library”-- to the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK), one of the most traditional and renowned boys’ residential schools in Malaysia, on the occasion of her visit to Malaysia with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last November. Tokyo Gas Co, Ltd. has also decided to contribute to MCKK, in order to promote Japanese language education.

In the ceremony, Ambassador Miyagawa handed-over the inventory of “Akie Library” to Mr Anand bin Baharuddin, Principal of MCKK, and Tokyo gas also presented its contribution by dispatching a Japanese language teacher to MCKK.

A wide range of participants from related organizations (Ministry of Education Malaysia, Perak State Education Office, Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, as well as Japanese language institutions from secondary schools, preparatory schools, universities to in-service training institutions) attended the event. We hope that the related organizations will strengthen their network and cooperation towards further progress of Japanese language education in Malaysia.
