Decoration by the Japanese Government to Malaysia Aikido Association President Mr Low Thian Seng |

Embassy of Japan On November 3, the Government of Japan announced that it was to confer decorations to 89 nationals including Mr Low Thian Seng, President of Malaysia Aikido Association who will is bestowed The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. Mr Low has played a central role in the establishment of the Malaysia Aikido Association in 1993 and has served as the General Secretary. After the establishment of the association, he opened his own dojo (training hall) and has devoted himself to coaching his apprentices there. He has focused especially on the promotion of Aikido among the youth based on his faith that the spirit of Aikido would contribute towards national unity as Malaysia is a multiethnic country. As a result of Mr Low’s and the Association members’ tireless contribution in promoting Aikido in Malaysia, there are a total of 18 dojos in Malaysia with approximately 1,500 Malaysians coached in Aikido under the Association so far. |
