of the Grant Contract between Embassy of Japan and Three Malaysian NGOs under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects |

The Government of
Japan has decided
to extend grant aid to following 3 NGOs in Malaysia under its Grant
Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Scheme. The grant
contracts between Embassy of Japan and following NGOs were signed on
11th March 2010 at Japanese Ambassador’s residence.
- Damai Disabled Persons Association of Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan - Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia) - Rumah Amal Cheshire Selangor,
1. The project for expanding the job training facility for the disabled (1) Recipient: Rumah Amal Cheshire Selangor (2) Outline: To improve and expand the job training facility for the disabled to learn baking and to furnish the bakery as an outlet to create employment opportunities for the disabled. (3) Grant amount: USD42,468 (RM123,159) (4) Donated items: Cost for expanding the job training facility and furnishing the bakery for the disabled. 2. The project for training on disaster risk reduction (1) Recipient: Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia) (2) Outline: To organize seminars for school teachers on how to educate school children on disaster risk reduction in 5 cities; KL, Penang, Kota Kinabaru, Kuching, and Kuala Trengganu. (3) Grant amount: USD53,988 (RM156,566) (4) Donated items: Cost for the disaster risk reduction training 3. The project for purchasing a vehicle with wheel chair lift for the disabled (1) Recipient: Damai Disabled Persons Association of Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan (2) Outline: To purchase a vehicle with wheel-chair lift to provide mobility for more than 150 disabled members and others (3) Grant amount: USD50,484 (RM146,403) (4) Donated items: Cost for purchasing a vehicle with wheel chair lift for the disabled (Summary of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects) The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects is given out to support small but socially important projects at the grassroots level for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments. Since 1989, the Government of Japan has contributed around RM13.5 million to 120 projects in Malaysia. |
