Signing of the Grant Contract between Embassy of Japan and three Malaysian NGOs
under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects

   The Government of Japan has decided to extend grant aid to the following 3 NGOs in Malaysia under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Scheme.The grant contracts between the Embassy of Japan and the following NGOs were signed on 23rd January 2013 at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence.

- Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Cacat Manjung
- The National Society of St Vincent De Paul Malaysia, Central Council of Selangor 
- Malaysian Federation of the Deaf



  

(Summary of the 3 Projects)
1. The Project for Purchasing a Vehicle for Rehabilitation for the Disabled
(1) Recipient: Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Cacat Manjung
(2) Grant amount: USD 31,348 (RM 94,516)
(3) Donated items: One 16-seater van

2. The Project for Expanding the Orphanage
(1) Recipient: The National Society of St Vincent De Paul Malaysia, Central Council of Selangor
(2) Grant amount: USD 105,567 (RM 318,284)
(3) Donated items: Construction fee for girls and boys dormitories

3. The Project for Publishing Dictionaries for Malaysian Sign Language (MSL)
(1) Recipient: Malaysian Federation of the Deaf
(2) Grant amount: USD 84,931 (RM 264,561)
(3) Donated items: Survey cost for the current use of MSL, cost for three devices to compile the dictionaries (a PC, camera and printer) and printing cost for 23,000 copies of the dictionaries

 (Summary of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects)
The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects is given out to support small but socially important projects at the grassroots level for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments.
 Since 1989, the Government of Japan has contributed about RM15 million to 131 projects in Malaysia.
