International Conference on Islam and Multiculturalism

On 13th December, International Conference on Islam and Multiculturalism was held at the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya. Ambassador Miyagawa attended the opening ceremony of the conference, and mentioned in his welcome address the importance of cross-fertilization between different cultures, with extending his gratitude to the University of Malaya for hosting the conference.

This conference is based on the joint research on symbiosis with Islam, of 3 institutes (Organization for Islamic Area Studies of Waseda University, Asia-Europe Institute of University of Malaya, and History Program of New York University Abu Dhabi), and supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Core-to-Core Program. In this way, the Government of Japan supports the development of human resources and the solution of prevailing problems in the Asia-African regions.
