Emergency Grant Aid provided by the Government of Japan in response to stranded people in the Indian Ocean |

On 19 June 2015, the Government of Japan has decided to provide
emergency grant aid of the total amount of $3,500,000 (approximately
RM13,230,000) through international organizations in response to
stranded people in the Indian Ocean. Foreign Minister Kishida made this
announcement at the “High-Level Seminar on Peacebuilding, National
Reconciliation and Democratization in Asia”, which was held in Tokyo on
20 June 2015. 2. The grant aid will be provided through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for humanitarian assistance to migrants, including temporary shelter and basic health care services, as well as to support information gathering and information sharing on peoples’ movements by sea. |
