On 5th to 7th September 2014, Japan participated in the MATTA Fair (Tourism & Travel Fair) which was held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur. Japan was also chosen as the “Favourite Destination Partner” for the fair. In his speech at the opening ceremony of the MATTA Fair on 5th September (Friday), Ambassador Miyagawa said that Japan was focused on developing its tourism industry to attract more tourists from various countries especially for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020. He also expected more Malaysian tourists to visit Japan in future. Many people thronged the extensive and attractively decorated JAPAN booth, which was organized by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) and consisted of many local governments, theme park operators etc, providing various information on visiting Japan.
