Prime Minister Shinzo Abe
made an official visit to Malaysia from July 25 to 26. After the
Welcome Ceremony at the Plaza in front of Prime Minister’s Office in
Putrajaya, Prime Minister Abe had the Summit Meeting with Prime
Minister Najib of Malaysia. The two premiers witnessed the signing of
two memoranda of understanding, one on cooperation on heavy particle
radiotherapy, and the other on the cooperation on the Samurai bonds.
At the Joint Press Announcement, the two prime ministers agreed to construct a new partnership which captures the needs of the times through furthering cooperation on the ground in the economic, political and security areas as well as in all forms of exchanges, and promoting the Second Wave of the Look East Policy, among others. Particular emphasis was made on cooperation with high-technology, such as high-speed railway, water supply and medical devices. Later in the evening, Prime Minister Abe received a courtesy call by representatives of the two associations of Malaysian former overseas students to Japan, ALEPS and JAGAM.
