   On 5 September 2016, Ambassador Dr. Makio Miyagawa visited the State of Sarawak and had meetings with The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan bin Haji Satem, Chief Minister of the State of Sarawak, as well as The Honourable Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister of the State of Sarawak. Ambassador Miyagawa also paid a visit to the Japanese Cemetery in Kuching.
