1. Hioki City, Kagoshima and Subang Jaya Municipal Council, Selangor signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friendship City at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council on 28 August 2012.

2. The two cities have fostered a friendship through various activities including dispatching goodwill missions, and realized this Friendship City Programme with the support of H.E. Datuk Shaharuddin Md. Som, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, and Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS).

3. It is expected that this friendship city program will enhance mutual understanding between Japan and Malaysia, and strengthen further cooperation between the two countries.
