Japan's assistance in search of Malaysia Airlines MH370 (23 March) Two P3C arrive at Subang Airbase |
On 23rd March,
based on the request by the Malaysian Government, two P3C aircraft
departed Subang Airbase for Perth, Australia. On 24th March, one of the
P3C started its SAR operations offshore southwest Australia. <Gist of Ambassador Miyagawa’s remarks at Subang Airbase> - Two days ago, in the telephone talks between Prime Minister Abe and Prime Minister Najib, Prime Minister Abe mentioned that Japan and Malaysia had a cooperative relationship that was special, and that Japan would do whatever necessary to assist Malaysia. Prime Minister Najib then expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Abe for his warm words of support. - Based on the new circumstances, the P3Cs dispatched by the Government of Japan will move its base from here at Subang Airbase to Perth, Australia to continue its operations. I hope that the search operations will be done in an effective manner. - This incident is very unique and unprecedented and this has resulted in new challenges for people around the globe.
