Visit to Malaysia by Japanese Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications |

Ms. Takaichi, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, visited
Malaysia from 16th to 18th January 2017. During her visit, she had a
bilateral meeting with YB Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak and they
signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of ICT. Minister
Takaichi also visited Isetan the Japan Store, NTT MSC’s data center and
the Japanese cemetery. 1. In the meeting with YB Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak, the two parties confirmed that they would further promote cooperation between Japan and Malaysia in the field of ICT such as ICT for Disaster Management, Cybersecurity, Mobile Digital Wallet, Broadcasting Content, 5G, IoT in order to further strengthen the relations between the two countries in 2017, which is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malaysia. 2. The two ministers signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan and the government of Malaysia in the field of ICT. Based on this MoC, it is expected that cooperation in the ICT field of both countries will be further enhanced, leading to the promotion of overseas deployment of Japanese companies. 3. Ms. Takaichi visited Isetan the Japan Store which started business last October as a store that sends out excellent Japanese products to the world and inspected a promotional activity of Japanese products linked to a co-produced program by broadcasting companies of Japan and Malaysia supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. In addition, she visited the data center of NTT MSC and the Japanese cemetery in Kuala Lumpur. ![]() ![]()
