7th February,
2013
The year 2012 marked the 30th anniversary of the Look East Policy which was a significant milestone in the course of history of Japan-Malaysia relations. This memorable year also witnessed a State Visit by Their Majesties the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia XIV and Raja Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia to Japan in October. In this connection, the reciprocal conferment of courtesy decorations took place, where the Japanese Government decided to confer Collar of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum and Grand Cordon of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum on His Majesty and Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown on Her Majesty, respectively. While the decoration presentation to His Majesty was conducted during the State Visit in Japan, due to various circumstances, the presentation to Her Majesty was conducted here in Malaysia. On 6th February 2013, Ambassador and Madame Nakamura had an audience with Their Majesties at the National Palace to present the decoration as well as a memorial photo album of the State Visit. The Imperial Family of Japan and the Royal Family of Malaysia have been cherishing their time-honored cordial relations to date. This reciprocal conferment of courtesy decorations is expected to carry forward the friendly cooperative ties between the two countries further ahead.
