Important notice to Consular Section Visitors (Reservation is required)

The “Recovery Movement Control Order” is implemented by the Malaysian government from 10 June until 31 August, but to maintain the prevention of the risk of coronavirus cluster infection due to large groups of visitors at the embassy counter, the reservation system for Consular services will continue for the time being.

Following the measures of relaxation of the movement control order, counter opening hours will be extended by 1 hour starting from 15 June.
 
1. Consular services operating hours (from 15 June)
Change to: Please make a reservation in advance via phone or email and come at the scheduled date and time.
*Time slot available for reservation: 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00

(Until 12 June): 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00
 
2. Consular services we provide
General services such as application and collection of passports and other certificates.
In regards to visa, please refer to No. 5 “Application and Issuance of Visa” below.
 
3. How to make a reservation
You can make a reservation via phone or email by informing us your name, date, time and purpose of visit. We seek your kind understanding that our reply may be a little delayed if you apply through email.

4. Working Days required for Issuance of Passport and Certificate
Change to: 5 working days (Example: Apply on Monday → Collect on Friday)
Previously: 4 working days (Example : Apply on Monday → Collect on Thursday)
Note : Certification of signature, certification of residence, additional pages for passport can be processed on the same day.

5. Application and Issuance of Visa
In accordance with Japan government latest border enforcement measures : 1) temporarily suspend visa exemption for Malaysian and 2) temporary entry ban on those who are traveling to Japan from Malaysia, all visa application (Malaysian and non-Malaysian nationals) submitted to Embassy of Japan in Malaysia will only be processed after the border enforcement measures has been lifted.
