Mr. Komura Masahiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited Malaysia from 22 to 23 September.
On 23 September, Mr. Komura had a working lunch meeting hosted by YB Datuk Mohamad bin Haji Alamin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. Mr. Komura expressed his hope to further expand the bilateral cooperation between Japan and Malaysia through the framework of the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership." He also stated that he hopes to work closely with Malaysia, which is to hold the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, to maintain and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law. Both sides exchanged views on a variety of issues, ranging from the bilateral cooperation including security to regional and international situations, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in a variety of fields.
Mr. Komura also visited KL Japanese Cemetery and the University of Tsukuba, Malaysia (UTMy). He also met representatives of alumni associations for Malaysians who studied in Japan (ALEPS & JAGAM) as well as representatives of Japanese companies in Malaysia to exchange views respectively.
