Official visit to Penang by Ambassador Takahashi

From 29th to 31st July, Ambassador and Mdm Takahashi made an official visit to Penang and held luncheon with TYT Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, the Governor of Penang. During the luncheon, they actively discussed further cooperation in various fields especially on higher education and aging. In addition, Ambassador Takahashi made site visits to Renesas Semiconductor (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd during his stay in Penang.
On 30th July, Penang Bon Odori Festival 2022 was held at Esplanade in Georgetown co-hosted by Penang State Government, Penang Japanese Association, Malaysian Japanese Society (MJS), Japan Graduates' Association of Malaysia (JAGAM) Northern Branch, Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) , Penang Japanese Language Society (PJLS) and Consulate-General of Japan in Penang.
According to the authorities in Penang, some 50,000 enjoyed the Japanese summer festival atmosphere, and enjoyed dancing to the traditional tunes along with taiko drum beats, various stage performances, as well as Japanese food and beverages sold at a number of stalls, and even goldfish scooping.
Penang Bon Odori Festival 2022 concluded with spectacular fireworks to celebrate the cordial Japan Malaysia relations and to wish for further enhancement of the bilateral relationship.
