2021/10/4
On 28th September 2021, Ambassador Oka joined an online ceremony to ‘Meet and Greet’ 31 Malaysian students who will be visiting high schools in Japan under “the KAKEHASHI Project 2021”. Ambassador Oka took the moment to congratulate and wish them well for their fruitful journey to pursue their study in Japan. In his message, he hoped that the Malaysian students would actively communicate with Japanese high school students so that they learn from each other and fully enjoy the Japanese culture and beautiful seasons.
This KAKEHASHI Project, announced by then Prime Minister Abe Shinzo during the Nikkei Seminar, “Future of Asia” in June 2017, is intended to build a bridge that connects the future of Japan and Asia including Malaysia. The Japanese Government provides opportunities in Asian high school to learn Japanese and to study in Japan to 1,000 students in total from 2018 to 2023. Until last year, 51 Malaysian high school students had joined the Project.
The Embassy hopes that the Malaysian students will learn, build and deepen their friendship with Japanese students and become the bridge (KAKEHASHI) as leaders who are well familiar with both countries.
