Japanese Tea Gathering held at the Japanese Village, Berjaya Hills

On 5 July, the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, in cooperation with the OMOTE SENKE Domonkai International Association Kuala Lumpur and Singapore Unit , held a Tea Ceremony titled “Japanese Tea Gathering” at the Japanese Village in Berjaya Hills, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang. Mr. Nihei Daisuke, Minister and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, attended the event.
The event was organized with the aim of deepening understanding of sado (the Japanese tea ceremony), one of Japan’s traditional cultural practices, while further promoting cultural exchange and friendship between Japan and Malaysia. During the programme, participants were introduced to the history, philosophy, and etiquette of the Tea Ceremony, followed by a demonstration of the tea-making process. Through this experience, participants were able to gain a deeper appreciation of Japanese culture and its underlying values.
The Japanese Village, where the event was held, is a cultural attraction within Berjaya Hills that showcases various aspects of Japanese culture. Featuring a traditional Japanese garden, tea house, and koi pond, it offers visitors an opportunity to experience Japanese aesthetics and traditions in a tranquil natural setting. The site has become a popular destination for visitors from both Malaysia and abroad.
Set amidst the lush natural surroundings of Bukit Tinggi, the Tea Ceremony provided a valuable opportunity to promote a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and served as a meaningful platform for further strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cultural ties between Japan and Malaysia.
