Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Jeffrey CHEAH Fook Ling

On 3rd September, the Embassy of Japan hosted a conferment ceremony for Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Jeffrey CHEAH Fook Ling, Founder and Chancellor of Sunway University, Founder and Chairman of Sunway Group, who received The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, as 2025 Spring Conferment of Decorations for foreign recipients.
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Jeffrey Cheah has made remarkable contributions to various fields of Japan–Malaysia relations, including supporting Japanese startups through Sunway i-Labs and fostering collaboration in the IT sector, promoting academic and people-to-people exchanges between Sunway University and Japanese universities, as well as supporting cultural exchange initiatives such as the 49th Bon Odori Festival.
This award honors his remarkable contributions to strengthening relations between Japan and Malaysia.
