Implementation of new restrictions related to COVID-19

1.  Entry Restriction

Foreign nationals who hold a China passport issued by Hubei/Zhejiang Provinces or who have visited following countries/regions or areas within 14 days of arrival in Japan will not be able to land in Japan except under special circumstances for the time being:

2. Suspension of Visa Exemption

Visa Exemption will be temporarily suspended for foreign nationals from the countries listed below:

9 March 2020 Hong Kong (both SAR and BNO passport holders), Macau Special Administrative Region of PRC, Republic of Korea
21 March 2020 Member state of Schengen Agreement(*), Ireland, Andorra, Iran, 
United Kingdom, Cyprus, Croatia, San Marino, Vatican, Bulgaria, Monaco, Romania
(*) Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland

You will be required to apply for a visa before entering Japan. Please contact the respective Embassy of Japan/ Consulate General of Japan offices for further inquiries.
 
 
3. Validity of Single entry and multiple entry visa
 
The validity of single entry visa and multiple entry visa, including diplomatic and official visa of Japan, which have been issued by Embassies, Consulates-General and Consulate of Japan in following 38 countries such as *Schengen member States, Ireland, Andorra, Iran, United Kingdom, Egypt, Cyprus, Croatia, San Marino, Vatican, Bulgaria, Monaco, and Romania by March 21, 2020, will be temporarily suspended.

4. Quarantine measures
 
Visitors/ Travelers arriving in Japan from following countries/regions will be asked to first stay at designated facilities for 14 days, and to avoid using any public transportation.
