Courtesy call by Ambassador Oka on Y.Bhg. Datuk Mahadi Che Ngah, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur

On 8 March, Ambassador Oka paid a courtesy call on Y.Bhg. Datuk Mahadi Che Ngah, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.
 
At the meeting, Ambassador Oka exchanged views with the Mayor on cooperation in various fields including facilitating Japanese companies’ investment and job creation in Kuala Lumpur and environmental measures such as low carbon cooperation between Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Tokyo Metropolitan Government as well as the utilization of digital technology towards a smart city concept.
 
On smart cities, Ambassador Oka expressed his appreciation for DBKL’s proactive proposals for the Japanese Government's support program “Smart JAMP” (Smart city supported by Japan ASEAN Mutual Partnership) and the Mayor’s aim to collaborate with Japan to transform Kuala Lumpur into a smart city by utilizing Japanese companies’ technology and knowledge through “Smart JAMP”.
