Ambassador Shikata attended Japan-ASEAN Roundtable hosted by ISIS Malaysia

On 9 December, Ambassador Shikata attended the Japan-ASEAN Roundtable entitled “Aligning priorities in a shifting Indo-Pacific,” hosted by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia. The event included insightful lectures and a Q&A session featuring Professor Takashi Terada from Doshisha University, Mr. Andrew W. Mantong from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia and Associate Professor Kei Koga from Nanyang Technological University.
 
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Shikata congratulated Malaysia for its successful ASEAN Chairmanship, while emphasizing the importance of promoting the synergies by Japan and ASEAN in addition to fostering deeper cooperation between the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)" and the "ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP)" for greater regional peace, stability and prosperity amidst the changing geopolitical landscape.
