“Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador” Award Ceremony

   “Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador Award Ceremony” was held on 6th April at the Ambassador's residence. Ambassador TAKAHASHI awarded the Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador certificates to Datuk SUZUKI Ichiro, Managing Director of Hiro Food Packages Manufacturing Sdn Bhd and CEO of Doka Sdn Bhd, and Mr MIYAGAWA Atsushi, Managing Director of JMG Trading.
 
   At the ceremony, Ambassador TAKAHASHI mentioned that the export value of agricultural, forestry, fisheries and food products from Japan to Malaysia has expanded by 4.5 times over the last decade, and he said that the growing popularity of Japanese food culture is expected to deepen Malaysians' understanding of Japanese culture. He also told that the last year marked the 40th anniversary of the Look East Policy while this year marked 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation, and he expressed his hope that the newly appointed "Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador" would make further contributions to the promotion of Japanese cuisine and food culture in Malaysia at this milestone.
 
   Datuk SUZUKI described his experience in Malaysia in his childhood in the 60s as well as the 70s and expressed his aspirations to continue to bring more good quality food products from Japan for Malaysians to enjoy.
 
   Mr MIYAGAWA introduced his experience of how he started selling Japanese vegetables and fruits at local grocery stores, and expressed his aspiration to expand agricultural products so that local people enjoy them.
 
   The Embassy of Japan in Malaysia would like to congratulate the appointments of Datuk SUZUKI and Mr MIYAGAWA as Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassadors, and we look forward to their further contributions to promoting Japanese cuisine and food culture.
