JMSDF ships JS AKEBONO and the Royal Malaysian Navy conducted the fourth bilateral exercise “MALPAN” this year

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ship JS AKEBONO and the Royal Malaysian Navy conducted a bilateral exercise “MALPAN” in the South China Sea on 12th November. This is the first ‘transfer at sea’ exercise between JMSDF and RMN. During her visit in Kota Kinabalu, they also conducted SMEE (Subject Matter Expert Exchange) regarding UAVs provided through Official Security Assistance (OSA). Japan will continue to cooperate with Malaysia to contribute to maritime security in the region under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Japan and Malaysia.
