Courtesy call on Minister of Minister of Housing and Local Government

On 12th March, Ambassador Oka paid a courtesy call on Y.B. Datuk Hajah Zuraida binti Kamaruddin, Minister of Housing and Local Government. At the meeting, Ambassador Oka explained to Y.B. Datuk Hajah Zuraida on the promotion of Malaysia’s smart city through the Japanese Government’s initiative called “Smart JAMP” (Smart city supported by Japan ASEAN Mutual Partnership), enhancing fire and rescue operations by utilizing AI technology, improvement of waste management including WTE (Waste to Energy) and the JICA partnership project which will equip local governments as well as community leaders with the skills and know-how to build a disaster risk reduction (DRR) program at the grassroots level and they agreed to strengthen cooperation between Japan and Malaysia in such field as smart city, environment, solid waste management and disaster mitigation.
