2025/6/16
On 14th June, Ambassador Shikata attended the MBSS WBC10 Bonsai Roadshow.
This event, held at IOI City Mall Putrajaya and co-hosted by IOI City Mall and the Malaysia Bonsai and Suiseki Society, aims to promote the beauty of bonsai to a wider audience in the lead-up to the 10th World Bonsai Convention, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur next year. In addition to bonsai displays, live demonstrations and workshops are also scheduled. The exhibition will run until 22nd June.

In his speech, Ambassador Shikata emphasized the important role that cultural exchange through bonsai plays in further strengthening the friendship between Japan and Malaysia. He also took the opportunity to commemorate the success of the current event and the upcoming World Bonsai Convention in 2026, and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all those involved, including the Malaysia Bonsai and Suiseki Society.

The 10th World Bonsai Convention is scheduled to be held from 28 to 31 August 2026 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and is expected to attract bonsai artists and enthusiasts from Japan and around the world.

We hope that this traditional Japanese art form will continue to draw growing interest in Malaysia and further contribute to deepening cultural exchange between the two countries.
