Call by Ambassador Oka on YBhg. Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, CEO of Bernama

On 12th April, Ambassador Oka visited Bernama and paid a call on Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, Bernama’s CEO.
During the meeting, Ambassador Oka thanked Bernama for its role to help Malaysians recognize the cooperation between Japan and Malaysia and stated that Japan and Malaysia have always had a good relationship under the Look East Policy, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.
Ambassador Oka highlighted the establishment of Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), an academic institution to introduce Japanese-style engineering education in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the development of quality infrastructures such as the main terminal building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), among many examples of various support Japan has provided for Malaysia's economic and social development.
Ambassador Oka expressed his hope for Japan-Malaysia cooperation to continue so the bilateral relations would be further strengthened. Ambassador Oka and Datuk Mokhtar Hussain also exchanged views on ways to promote the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic event in the midst of COVID-19.
Later, Ambassador Oka toured Bernama’s office facilities including the TV broadcasting studio and the editor’s room.
