Ambassador Takahashi attended a webinar on the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy hosted by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia

On 18 May, Ambassador Takahashi gave a speech at a webinar on the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy hosted by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia.
In his speech, Ambassador Takahashi emphasized that the Look East Policy had been playing a significant role in Malaysia’s economic development as well as the friendly relationship between Japan and Malaysia. Ambassador also proposed some areas of cooperation that the two countries should focus on, such as the recovery from COVID-19, digital and green technology, disaster-risk reduction, water resource management and aging society.
At the webinar, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister, delivered the keynote speech, and Mr Kumagai Satoru, Director, Economic Geography Studies Group, Institute of Development Economics (IDE-JETRO) attended as a discussant.
