2019 Spring Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals

On the 21st of May, the Government of Japan announced foreign national recipients of decorations for the 2019 spring conferment. Among them, the following are the dignitaries within the area of jurisdiction of the Embassy of Japan who receive decorations for their outstanding contributions:
1. Tan Sri Syed Hamid Syed Jaafar Albar
* Former Minister of Foreign Affairs
Services: Contributed to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and Malaysia and to strengthening Japan-ASEAN relations
Decoration: Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun
2. Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’Dzulkifli Abdul Razak
* Rector of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)
* Former Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
* Director of Pusat Bahasa Teikyo (PBT)
Services: Contributed to promoting academic exchange between Japan and Malaysia
Decoration: The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays With Neck Ribbon
