Courtesy Call on Minister of Health

On 15th October, Ambassador Oka paid a courtesy call on Y.B. Tuan Khairy Jamaluddin bin Abu Bakar, the Minister of Health. At the meeting, Ambassador Oka expressed his appreciation for Malaysia’s efforts in managing the Covid-19 pandemic, especially the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme that included vaccination for foreigners. He also explained Japan’s contribution to the fight against Covid-19 and to strengthen the health system in Malaysia such as the provision of Covid-19 vaccines, cold chain equipment for vaccines as “Last One Mile Support” and medical equipment. In response, Y.B. Tuan Khairy Jamaluddin expressed his gratitude for Japan's support.
In addition to cooperation in the fight against Covid-19, Ambassador Oka and Y.B. Tuan Khairy Jamaluddin exchanged views on the establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Emerging Diseases and Public Health Emergencies and the Tokyo Nutrition Summit 2021 which will be held in December 2021. They both agreed to deepen cooperation between Japan and Malaysia in the field of health.
