Music events to commemorate Meiji 150th anniversary
The Embassy of Japan co-hosted two music events to commemorate Meiji 150th anniversary with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Akademi Seni Budaya Dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) on 20 March. Ms Rio Yamase, Japanese violinist born in Malaysia, gave a lecture demonstration on Japanese music history, music education and others and performed at both UPM and ASWARA with her piano accompanist, Ms Felicity Thong, Malaysian pianist. Participants including many university students enjoyed the talk and performance as well as lively question and answer session, and they showed their great interests on the hardanger fiddle.
