On 14 June, the Opening Ceremony of the “Step into Malaysian Nature” Exhibition was held at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC). Counsellor of the Embassy Mr. Kitaoka Tatsuya attended the event and delivered opening remarks. The exhibition is an interactive art exhibition focusing on Malaysia’s rich natural environment and the importance of environmental conservation. It features paintings and mixed-media artworks inspired by nature and wildlife, as well as immersive installations and educational activities that encourage visitors to learn more about environmental issues.

In his remarks, Mr. Kitaoka highlighted the beauty of Malaysia’s natural environment and the importance of protecting it for future generations. He also emphasized the role of art and cultural exchange in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Malaysia. Looking ahead to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malaysia in 2027, he expressed his hope that initiatives such as this exhibition would further strengthen ties between our two countries.

Following the ceremony, Mr. KITAOKA toured the exhibition and viewed paintings and mixed-media artworks depicting themes such as nature, wildlife, and marine ecosystems. He also received explanations from participating artists regarding the messages and inspirations behind their works.

The event also featured a presentation by the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC), a partner organization of the exhibition. The presentation introduced the BSBCC’s efforts to protect the Malayan sun bear and highlighted the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental protection in Malaysia.

The exhibition will run until 28 June.
