2020/7/24

On 26th July 2020, Ambassador Oka received a courtesy call by Mr. Christopher HW Wong, Secretary General of Malaysia Kendo Association (MKA).
Kendo is a traditional Japanese martial art, which descended from swordsmanship (Kenjutsu) and uses bamboo swords (shinai) and protective armour (bōgu).
In Malaysia, there are about 10 dojo, training gyms and hundreds of members practicing Kendo, under MKA. There’s also an annual competition for this sport called the “Japanese Ambassador’s Cup”.
During the meeting, Ambassador Oka showed his support for Kendo to be widely practiced and promoted in Malaysia.
Recently, Hamachidori Kendo Dojo, participated at the virtually held “Japan Expo Malaysia 2020”and introduced the elements of Kendo. Click here to watch their interesting video to learn more about Kendo.
