Handover Ceremony of the Refrigerated Trucks Provided under the Grant Assistance Project

The Government of Japan has extended Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects to The Lost Food Project (TLFP). The handover ceremony of 2 refrigerated trucks has been held at the TLFP warehouse, Chan Sow Lin, on 23 June 2026.
 
"The Lost Food Project shares this vision of empowering communities and addressing social challenges," said H.E. SHIKATA Noriyuki, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia. "This initiative closely aligns with our mission to promote grassroots human security by addressing both environmental waste and food insecurity. We hope these Japanese-manufactured trucks will serve as reliable workhorses, enhancing The Lost Food Project's remarkable efforts to assist vulnerable families and contribute to building a more resilient, sustainable society."
 
Summary of the Project
The Project for the Provision of Refrigerated Truck for Food Distribution for the Low-Income Household in Selangor
This project is to distribute fresh food and other food items to low-income people living in the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan Area through the provision of two trucks with refrigeration facilities at the Lost Food Project in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, thereby improving food loss and contributing to healthy eating habits and livelihood stability for low-income people in the area. The project contributes to the improvement of food loss and the healthy diet and stability of life of low-income people in the region.

Summary of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects
The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects is given out to support small but socially important projects at the grassroots level for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments. Since 1989, the Government of Japan has contributed about RM20.0 million to 160 projects in Malaysia.
