Courtesy Call on Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy)

On 21st October, Ambassador Oka paid a visit to Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy).
 
They agreed to further strengthen economic interactions between Japan and Malaysia in the post COVID-19 recovery phase.
 
Ambassador Oka congratulated Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed on the 12th Malaysia Plan and conveyed the eagerness of Japan to work with Malaysia to achieve the objectives of the 5-year plan.
 
Ambassador Oka explained that Japanese businesses continue to invest in Malaysia, citing the latest investment by Taiyo Yuden worth RM680 million creating 2,000 job opportunities in Sarawak. Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed welcomed the new Japanese investment and they agreed to work together in creating investment-friendly environment in Malaysia. Japan is the 3rd largest source of FDI to Malaysia.
