Ambassador Oka‘s visit to Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

On October 13, Ambassador Oka and his wife visited Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and exchanged views with Mr. Syed Mohammad Albukhary, Director of the Museum. In the exchanges, Ambassador Oka expressed his sincere appreciation to the Director for the generosity of the Museum which enables Tokyo National Museum in Japan to hold the exhibition, The 14 Dynasties and a Region: The History and Culture of the Muslim World, and explained that the exhibition attracts strong interest among the Japanese toward the Islamic culture and that the exhibition plays an important role for the cultural exchanges between the two countries. Ambassador Oka and Director Syed Mohammad agreed to strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation between Japan and Malaysia through including activities at Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Ambassador Oka and his wife were impressed by the wonderful exhibits in the Museum and they witnessed that Japanese paper “WASHI” plays crucial role for preserving and restoring precious cultural artifact in the Museum.
