Special Lecture by Ambassador Shikata at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)

On 26th November, Ambassador Shikata Noriyuki delivered a special lecture entitled "Japan-Malaysia Relations and Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Policy ~When Sashimi Meets Nasi Lemak~" at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), hosted by the university.

In this special lecture, Ambassador Shikata spoke about the historically friendly relations between Japan and Malaysia, recent cooperation between Japan and Malaysia in academic and industrial fields, and Japan's basic diplomatic policy in the Indo-Pacific region, including Southeast Asia. He also spoke about the characteristics and commonalities between the two countries, and his expectations for further development of the mutually beneficial bilateral relationship, using the two countries' signature foods, "sashimi" and "nasi lemak," as a starting point.

Approximately 300 students, faculty, and staff from UTAR attended the special lecture, which saw a lively exchange of opinions, including a Q&A session.
